Constructive Criticism Review

Those who know me know that Boba Fett is my main collecting focus.
Many others on the "The dented helmet" and the RPF and myself have
researched Fetts different costumes over a long time. A lot of
reference material is out there as well as confirmed used parts of
these costumes.

When the new Rotj Boba Fett was announced I was hoping to get a
figure similar to 6 inch quality in 3.75 inch size. However some
details of the costume are so small that once you try to bring
them to 3.75 inch size they get lost. So keep this in mind. Also
you need to keep in mind that lighting has a huge effect on colors
so if you think you see a dark green in bad lighting it is
actually much lighter shade. The propmakers painted Boba Fetts
green armor not simply in one solid color green, they sprayed
different layers and shades of green and sprinkled black and
other shades above the final layers of green, which gives the
basic color more depth, are more realistic used and faded look
of the color. That can not be done for these small figures be it
3.75 or 6 inch, so Hasbro would need to find a compromise for
the colors.

The initial 3D rendered images of the new Boba Fett figures
sported an ESB helmet on the Rotj figure. That was corrected,
somewhat. Unfortunately we were never shown a finalized proto.
The first images of the final product came from fans who found
these figures in stores in the U.S.

Now that I have some lose ones in hand I can compare them to the
movie version of Boba Fett. It's good, but not the "definitive"
version that some think, but it could be with some tweaks. The
main problems are with the jetpack and the boots, colors, blaster.
For some, these do not matter, because it's Boba Fett, for others
that keep striving for the best costume it is a problem.

Helmet, the helmet seems to be modeled after the scan Hasbro took
from the original helmet, which gives us the correct size.
Judging from a copy I own that was pulled from an original helmet
I don't see any differences, which is good! The colors are now
Rotj except the cheeks appear too black, needed a tint of green.
Killstripes is a miss, I'm counting 14 but Rotj has 18 killstripes
ESB helmet comes with 14 killstripes. The color of the
killstripes however is a match for Rotj. Helmet is a 9 out of 10.

Chestarmor. Is a miss, it's lacking the lights on the left chest
plate, symbol on the right chest plate is perfect, green armor is
too dark as is the cod piece. 7,5 out of 10.

Jetpack, this is a pre production jetpack in colors! This jetpack
was worn when Fett had yellow and red gauntlets, this jetpack was
not used in Rotj. The blades on the rocket is a carry over mistake
the rocket has 3 blades not 4. Because it is a pre-pro jetpack
the colors are way too bright, lacking the silver on the small
exhausts. A plus is the vent on the bottom, 5 out of 10. 10 out of
10 if this would be for a pre-pro Fett.

The pouches on the belt are great even appear to show some
stitching. 10 out of 10.
On the back the 2 strings that hold the horse girth belt in
place are black leather not structured like the girth belt. The
figure is lacking black paint but the strings are present.
9.5 out of 10.
The jumpsuit has the correct washed out color, 10 out of 10.
Gauntlets have the correct shade red, everything is molded that
needs to be there, including 2 buttons on the left gauntlet, but
one dart is missing on the right gauntlet, I see 3 instead of 4.
9.5 out of 10.
The cape has the correct color, correct length, 10 out of 10.
The blaster is a 7 out of 10. The rusty look is perfect, size
is accurate, not too big not too small. Problems are the stock
greeblies are from the ESB blaster! Rotj used different greeblies!
A Webley which this blaster was based on comes with one bronze
pistol grip on the right side, the left side is flat, and the
grip is not present as it's just a metal piece that attaches to
the wooden stock.

Shoulder armor is a 10 out of 10. Attached nicely to the flak
vest like the real deal which gives the figure more movement
possibilities. Shoulder and knee armor could use a little darker
shade.

Boots, I don't know these are somewhat killing it for me.
They look like slippers, I'm missing the distinct shape of the
boots. The figure looks like it wears socks, the center stripe
is there, but the look,... :/

Overall the figure has great play value, good looks but lacks in
correct detail. It is no comparison to the VOTC Rotj Boba Fett,
it could have been a 10 if the above mentioned flaws would not
be present, in fact this figure could be the ultimate Rotj Fett
if these issues could be fixed. Hasbro would never have to fiddle
with another Rotj Fett as this sculpt would hold up for decades.

Was
