You know the saying, if it's cheap it's not worth anything. The same holds true for Instagram and the rest of the company. We had an account for years on instagram as an add on for our website which we got locked out of by instagram for no reason. Let me share what happened.
We do not post much, when we do we posted images and added the usual hashtags. Why are people on instagram? They show stuff to the world and hope they get a "like" because it is so fun to "socialize". So a week and a half ago we got an email from instagram claiming they noticed "suspicious activity" and asked us to enter a code upon login. Ok, security is good, so we entered the code, all was good. Next day another email they suggested we should change the password for security reasons, ok, we did. All was good. The following day the fun continued, upon login we were asked to have instagram send us a code on our phone. Sure, no problem, we entered the code, all was good, or maybe not, the following day another instagram hurdle, they again wanted us to enter a code sent to our phone, sure, no problem, entered the code and bam here comes a message saying that they would check our information and within 24 hours the account would be back.
Of course it was not. Account locked saying we violated one of their terms, but not which one. Of course not, cause we didn't violate anything. Our images are kids safe, we didn't fight with others, all we did was provide information about Hasbro products for the collecting community. We never had one warning before this, so it's either their algorhytm or some attempt to collect information. Which after research we are sure the later is what they are after. When you search the Internet you will find thousands over thousands of complaints
that Instagram locked users accounts. Once you are at the stage above everybody reports of the same. Once they lock your account they ask you to do the following next: Take a photo of yourself with a hand written note in front of you, letter sized with your hands visible. Include all sorts of legal documents. This company is only interested in collecting all information about individuals and companies because that is what they do, collect your data and use it to make advertising money. By locking our and other accounts we see an Anti Trust violation which actually they are being sued for ...again. The FTC is looking into this behaviour and this is just more confirmation of it.
So if you think you want to go on Instagram or facebook because it is cheap to run a group or little page, think again, it might be free, but it is not cheap. You will pay with your data, and your work can be deleted anytime this company wants. Everybody is better off to run their own site, build it and host it then instead waking up one morning and finding out your work is gone, your followers can't access pages or groups.
And what does Instagram say? NOTHING! They don't have working support mails or phone numbers. They are not responding through Twitter or in any way other than automated pre written mails that have nothing to do with your inquiry. If you want to advertise with facebook, think again. Stop giving your companies money to these people, they don't care about their users, they certainly don't care about a company that advertises with them.
Don't take my word for it, search the net and you will find confirmation of what we experienced and how facebook operates. It's time for a change!
